You're allowed to not be okay

You're allowed to not be okay

Life has been lifin' and sometimes you just need to take a beat.

Hey, Friend!

Full transparency: this issue is coming out a little later than usual today.

And honestly? That's kind of the point of this message.

Life has been lifin' lately. The kind of lifin' that doesn't leave much mental space for creating, showing up or doing all the things you told yourself you'd do consistently.

I've been exhausted. Overwhelmed. Sitting with some unexpected disappointments.

And somewhere in the middle of all of it, I made a quiet decision to stop pushing creatively and just ... be.

Not forever. Just taking a much needed beat.

And I want to talk about that today.

1 | Thinking Out Loud

Here's something the creative and entrepreneurial world doesn't say enough:

You're allowed to not be okay.

You're allowed to have seasons where the content doesn't flow, the ideas don't come, and the last thing you want to do is show up with something polished and purposeful for anyone else.

You're allowed to feel the feelings without immediately trying to turn them into content.

We talk a lot about showing up consistently, creating through the hard seasons, and pushing through the resistance. And sometimes that's exactly the right call.

But sometimes? Sometimes the most honest and courageous thing you can do is put it down.

Take care of yourself. Feel what you're feeling without rushing to fix it or package it or schedule it for next Tuesday.

My message to you (and me) today is simple: stop shoulding on yourself.

The "I should be posting." The "I should be building." The "I should be further along by now." The "I should have something to say."

Those shoulds have a way of making an already hard season heavier than it needs to be.

Here's what I've learned: the work will still be there when you come back.

The calling doesn't expire because you took a week to breathe. And you will create better, think more clearly, and show up more fully when you've given yourself permission to be human first.

Rest isn't the opposite of progress. Sometimes it's the prerequisite.

2 | Try This

Identify one "should" that's been making your hard season harder.

Write it down. Then cross it out.

Not because it doesn't matter. But because right now, in this moment, taking care of yourself matters more.

Give yourself permission to put it down. Just for this week.

3 | Sit With This

What would it feel like to stop shoulding on yourself for a little while?

(Hit reply and tell me. I'd love to hear from you.)

πŸ“– The Word Out Loud

Matthew 11:28: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

He didn't say push through. He simply said come.

Friend, the work will wait.

Take care of you first.

Creatively Yours,

Cachet
